The Team was all smiles!
Usborne and Hibbert Mutual Fire Insurance Company hosted its second annual Community BBQ on Friday, (September 22). With over 150 people attending, the event was a resounding success, drawing support from the community.
The decision to organize a community BBQ and offer fire extinguisher education to the public last year proved to be a winning idea, prompting this year’s encore. This time around, $2360 in proceeds from the event were dedicated to supporting the Exeter Community Food Bank.
President and CEO Shelagh Cleary, spoke passionately about the sense of community that Exeter and South Huron embody.
When it comes to giving back to the community, Cleary said that when she considers their company, it’s a no brainer.
The enthusiasm for the event was palpable among the company’s employees. Cleary recalled the unanimous support when she proposed hosting the event again this year.
She confirmed that the community barbeque is now an annual tradition.
The event itself featured an array of delicious offerings, including foot-long hot dogs, burgers, soda, and chips. Still, the highlight was the live burn and fire extinguisher demonstration put on by the South Huron Fire Department, which educated attendees on crucial fire safety techniques.
