To address student enrolment imbalances in Stratford, Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) has greenlit a boundary review.
This move aims to solicit input from the local community on boundary adjustments to distribute students among Stratford area schools.
Stratford, a region poised for continued growth in its school-age population, faces challenges in its current elementary accommodation plan.
The boundary review, slated to commence in October 2023 and conclude in Spring 2024, seeks to address these challenges systematically.
Superintendent Cheri Carter emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “It is essential that we strive to harmonize enrolments across our schools, particularly when some schools are grappling with overcrowding issues, while others have excess capacity.”
A specialized committee will be established, featuring representatives from all schools involved in the review process.
Ultimately, the school board trustees will aim to balance the needs and preferences of the school communities while ensuring the sustainability of the region’s educational system.
