Seaforth Community Hospital is breathing a sigh of relief as the recent COVID-19 outbreak, which was declared on the Inpatient Unit on September 27, has officially come to an end.
Huron Perth Public Health announced the outbreak’s conclusion on Friday (October 8).
With the declaration that the outbreak has been contained, the Inpatient Unit is now open to admissions and transfers, and Family and Caregiver Presence has been reinstated.
Detailed guidelines can be found on the hospital’s official website, www.hpha.ca.
It’s worth noting that mask-wearing remains mandatory in clinical areas across all hospital sites, including patient rooms.
While the immediate crisis has passed, public health officials stress the need to continue practicing preventive measures. Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control said, “We can’t stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. Keep up-to-date with your vaccines, wear masks when necessary, practice frequent handwashing, and, most importantly, stay home if you’re feeling unwell.”
Jensen also urged community members to exercise caution when visiting loved ones in the hospital, especially if they’re not feeling well, as hospitalized patients are at a higher risk of complications.
