A 31-year-old Goderich resident is facing serious criminal charges after causing damage to town property.
On Wednesday, September 20, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Multiple 911 calls flooded the police station, reporting an individual engaged in assaultive and destructive behavior on the Square in Goderich.
The individual was witnessed smashing a garbage container against a storefront window, causing significant property damage.
OPP officers arrived at the scene, and the suspect was not compliant with officers, and displayed assaultive behavior.
Officers used a taser to safely apprehend the suspect.
The suspect now faces several criminal charges, including Mischief Under $5,000, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, and Causing a Disturbance.
They’re scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on October 30th.
