Today, a sense of alarm swept through Clinton, sending several local schools into lockdown in response to a reported shooting.
Though details remain scarce, the police presence was unmistakable, with helicopters circling overhead.
Several educational institutions, including St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School, St. Joseph Elementary, and Central Huron Secondary School, initiated hold and secure procedures. Students were kept inside the buildings, seeking refuge from the unknown threat. Fortunately, the hold and secure was lifted later in the day.

Official word from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment shed little light on the incident. In an official release it was confirmed that a little before 10:30 a.m., officers interacted with two individuals, resulting in one person sustaining injuries, while another individual remains at large.
Due to the injuries sustained by one party, the Province’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into the incident, as a result it will likely be a while before any details emerge.
There is no apparent imminent threat to public safety.
