A break-in in Denfield last week led to a thief picking up items from a resident’s garage.
On Friday (October 20) at 4:31 p.m., Middlesex OPP responded to a call about a vehicle entry – sometime during the overnight hours, someone gained access to a parked vehicle, and used the garage door opener inside to gain access.
The thief or thieves made off with multiple items, including electric scooters and power tools, with an estimated value of $5,000.
In light of this incident, the Middlesex OPP would like to remind the public of some essential precautions to protect their vehicles and property:
- Always secure your vehicle by rolling up the windows, locking the doors, and keeping your keys with you.
- If you have a garage, use it, and ensure both the garage door and your vehicle are locked.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended with the engine running.
- Consider investing in aftermarket anti-theft devices.
- Whenever possible, park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
If you have any video surveillance footage or information that could assist in this investigation, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or call Crime Stoppers.
