Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) has officially declared a COVID-19 outbreak within the Inpatient Unit at St. Marys Memorial Hospital.
As a precautionary measure, the affected unit is now closed to admissions until further notice. Patients, along with their families, caregivers, and the hospital team members who may have been exposed, are being notified and tested.
Patients are now limited to one family caregiver or visitor per day, and no in-and-out privileges are granted, and visitors are required to follow strict personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, including the use of masks, eye protection, gowns, and gloves.
Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety, and Infection Control, emphasizes the importance of community cooperation. “We’d also like to remind our community members to please refrain from visiting a patient at any of our hospital sites if you are feeling unwell,” she urges.
