It’s time for 12 days of Fire Safety, brought to you by the Lambton Shores Fire Department and South Huron Fire Department.
Unlike gingerbread, it’s odourless. Unlike your uncle’s ugly Christmas sweater, it’s invisible.
That’s from Todd Mellin, the Public Education Lead at Lambton Shores Fire Department. He emphasized the significance of CO alarms.
The distinct four beeps emitted by a carbon monoxide alarm signal a potential emergency. Upon hearing the four beeps, you should immediately evacuate the premises, and contact emergency services.
As we enter the holiday season, Mellin urges everyone to ensure their CO alarms are in working order. With homes bustling with activity and increased use of heating appliances, the risk of CO exposure rises.
By understanding and heeding the warnings of carbon monoxide alarms, families can enjoy a safer and more secure holiday season and beyond.
