The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) is excited to announce they got a STEM grant from Nuclear Waste Management Ontario (NWMO). The aim is to improve science, skilled trades, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning in Huron County schools.
The focus was on getting LEGO Spike Prime kits, giving students hands-on experience in robotics and coding—important skills in today’s technology.
The grant also helped organize workshops for Grade 7 and 8 classes by the University of Waterloo Engineering Outreach Program. These workshops complement the curriculum, allowing students to handle real-world engineering challenges and explore potential STEM careers.
Through these activities, students learn to apply STEM concepts, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
