Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged a 78-year-old with fraud among other charges, after being implicated in investigations in multiple counties.
In April, Orillia OPP investigated a breach to a local business’ email system – resulting in a loss of almost $7,000. The Central Region Fraud Unit identified a suspect from Guelph.
In June, Huron OPP were looking into a separate fraud at a local business, with fraudulent e-transfers resulting in a loss of more than $27,000.
Through the collaborative efforts of OPP, David Cooper was arrested and charged in Rockwood on December 19th with fraud, forgery and possession of property obtained by crime.
He will appear in court in both Goderich and Orillia to answer for his crimes, however, investigators believe that there may be more victims that have yet to come forward.
