At the last Bluewater Council meeting (Monday December 18th), the strategic plan was a big point of discussion.
Council was presented with a set of documents highlighting the plan and each different part of it.
Todd MacDonald was the one to present the documents to council.
Bluewater’s Future Focus 2024-2027 Corporate Strategic Plan aims to set the municipality on a sustainable operational and financial path.
The plan’s timing is very beneficial as it provides guidance to the Council for proactive management of financial challenges related to existing facilities, infrastructure, and assets.
A corporate strategic plan is essential for Bluewater to proactively address these challenges and navigate changes effectively with focus and determination.
MacDonald says at this moment in time the plan is just that- a plan.
The Future Focus approach to Corporate Strategic Planning features three different parts.
Clear Priorities as Future Focus outlines the top strategic priorities that Bluewater Council must accomplish, cutting through daily busyness and competing operational demands.
Consensus and Focus as it establishes consensus and focus on “Wildly Important Goals” crucial for delivering high-performance results to residents and businesses. It’s primarily a change management initiative.
Alignment as Future Focus ensures that the operational planning and execution of Bluewater’s staff leadership team are in line with Council’s critical strategic priorities. This ensures everyone is on the same page, implementing ideas that address important challenges first, without overreaching.
Bayfield Councillor, Bill Whetstone jumped forward to agree with the idea of the plan and all it will offer.
However, Whetstone also suggested the matter be brought up at the next budget meeting.
Council voted in favour of the plan and will forward with the strategic plan.
