Our local fire department is always on call to help in the event of an emergency, but in the winter time, this common hazard could cost them precious minutes.
South Huron Fire Chief Jeremy Becker says that residents should consider clearing snow around fire hydrants in residential areas.

Those precious minutes can make all the difference when responding to a structure fire.
It’s also good practice to make sure that your emergency exits are clear of snow and other hazards as well.
There are many challenges up against our local emergency service workers in the winter weather, the first of which is road conditions.
It’s also important that drivers yield to emergency vehicles in both directions of traffic.
