A local initiative looks to launch new conversations around mental health.
Hensall local Wes Tanner, who has struggled with his own mental health for well over a decade, says that he hopes to generate safe places for meaningful conversations with a fundraiser.
After losing the battle a few times and trying to take his own life, Wes is now determined to break the stigma surrounding mental health, and share his story with others.
To support the cause, Wes has launched a GoFundMe page and is selling gift bags, with all proceeds being donated.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Tanner Steffler Foundation, which resonates deeply with Wes due to its commitment to mental health, especially among youth.
The initiative aims not only to raise funds but also to foster a sense of community and support for those struggling with mental health.

He expressed the importance of community involvement, stressing that the conversation is not just about him and his family but a collective effort to end the stigma. He plans to organize local events like barbecues, meet-and-greets, and educational sessions to provide information on mental health disorders and statistics in Canada.
