The spirit of generosity was palpable at the International Women’s Day fundraiser held by McDonald’s in partnership with the Huron Women’s Shelter last Friday (March 8th). As the day unfolded, the community showed immense support, coming together to make a difference in the lives of women and children in need.
Genelle Reid, Fundraising and Public Education Coordinator for the Huron Women’s Shelter, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response from the community.

She also said that Team Reid McDonald’s played a crucial role in making the event a success. Their support and willingness to stand alongside the shelter exemplify the power of local businesses in driving positive change within their communities.
Genelle said that unfortunately those living in abusive situations can feel extremely isolated – she highlighted the significance of the community showing up to show that they care.
The event was an undeniable success, with $1,682 raised in cash donations, and over $1,742 donated by team Reid McDonalds – with a dollar of every coffee purchased on Friday going to the shelter.
The success of the fundraiser not only highlights the generosity of the community but also underscores its commitment to supporting and celebrating women.
