Several Huron County OPP officers responded to an incident at an address in Exeter, South Huron.
On March 15, 2024, at 11:28 a.m., members of the Huron County OPP, along with several specialized units, were dispatched to an address on Main Street South following a report of a possible hostage situation.
Main Street South between John Street and James Street was closed, and nearby residences and businesses were evacuated as a precaution.
With the help of the South Huron Fire Department, the South Huron Recreation Centre was opened to accommodate the displaced individuals.
Five individuals safely exited the apartment without any issues.
After thorough investigation, it was determined that the situation was unfounded. No charges have been laid, and all resources have been cleared.
