Clinton is gearing up for an exciting weekend as the annual Clinton Spring Fair approaches. Lorne Koch, a long-time member of the fair committee, shares insights into what attendees can expect this year.
With the theme “Way More In 24′,” the fair promises a packed schedule of events and activities. Kicking off on Friday, May 31st, is the highly anticipated Friday Night Derby, a crowd favorite that sets the tone for the weekend festivities.
Koch says they have a goal in mind for this years fair.
The main fair day on Saturday, June 1st, will feature an array of displays, home crafts, and competitions. One of the highlights this year is the special appearance of a fire eater and world record holder in fire eating, adding a thrilling element to the fair’s lineup.
The car derby, a staple since the 70s, remains a major draw with its adrenaline-pumping action and a diverse lineup of vehicles. The Midway adds to the excitement with thrilling rides and games, along with traditional fair activities like smashing cars and a lively beer garden.
Attendees can also look forward to traditional attractions like the lawn tractor pull, a baby show in the morning, a car show, farmers market, and live music performances throughout the day.
Koch mentions that the fair is more than just a weekend event; it’s a symbol of community spirit and involvement.”
Last year, the fair engaged local schools in a community project, planting marigolds and encouraging youth participation in civic activities.
To streamline access, all fair activities are ticketed and can be conveniently purchased through the official website or Facebook page. Koch emphasizes the importance of securing tickets in advance, especially for popular events like the concert, which is expected to sell out.
In addition to the fairground events, the National Barrel Horse Association will host barrel racing at the REACH Centre on Saturday, adding to the fair’s extensive offerings.
With lots of events and entertainment options, the Clinton Spring Fair promises a weekend of fun and excitement for all ages. Koch encourages everyone to join in the festivities and experience the vibrant community spirit that defines the fair year after year.
