Last year's event was an absolute success! | Photo submitted
Feminine hygeine products are a basic necessity – but if you’re worried about where your next meal is coming from, menstrual products can slip down the list of priorities.
That’s why the Hensall and District Kinettes are hosting their Tampon Tuesday event, at Hansen’s Your Independent Grocer, this week from 10 AM to 7 PM – on Tuesday of course.
Julie Clark, President of the Hensall Kinettes, says that all you have to do is stop by your local grocery store!
This event is part of a broader conversation about period poverty, an issue that has gained more attention in recent years.
Last year, the event collected eight to nine grocery carts full of products and raised $600 in cash donations, which were used to purchase additional care items such as incontinence pads and menstrual cups.
Clark also notes the generous support from the local community, including the unexpected generosity from senior citizens who frequent Hansen’s on Tuesdays.
For those looking to contribute, donations of all kinds of feminine hygiene products are welcome. Let’s come together as a community to support those in need and make this year’s Tampon Tuesday another success.
