The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation (ABCF) is marking its 50th anniversary on June 1st. This milestone celebrates half a century of dedication to sustaining healthy watersheds through community partnerships and support.
Founded on June 1, 1974, the ABCF has thrived thanks to the donations, fundraising support, and volunteer efforts from the local community.
As an independent organization with a community board of directors, the ABCF works alongside the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) to protect water quality, soil health, and habitats in the region.
The ABCF’s mission focuses on raising and providing funds for conservation projects and acquiring and preserving conservation lands. Over the years, the foundation has facilitated numerous conservation programs, including education subsidies, student bursaries, summer job experiences, habitat improvements, and accessible trail projects.
