Tonight, (June 11th) South Huron Firefighters will be canvassing Dashwood, Exeter, Centralia, Huron Park, and Crediton for non-perishable food items in support of the Exeter Community Food Bank.
Laurie Clapp Manager of the Exeter Community Food Bank, said that the biannual initiative is one of the single largest donations they receive.
When asked about the partnership with the South Huron Fire Department, Laurie expressed immense gratitude – with the fire department doing the leg work of getting the donations to the food bank for you, many more people are incentivized to donate.
Regarding current needs, Laurie mentioned that anything is appreciated.
She said that in the last five years, the number of families that they serve has nearly tripled – the need has never been greater.
For those participating tonight, donations can be left in cardboard boxes, reusable bags, or even spare plastic bags. “We’ll use whatever they send. We’re not going to turn anything away,” Laurie assured.
This evening’s food drive is a perfect opportunity to support those in need in our community. Every donation makes a difference, so please remember to place your contributions out by 7 PM tonight.
