The newest addition to the community has finally been installed at the downtown Parkette in Exeter – a new mural! The vibrant colors and captivating imagery have finally found their place on the BMO building.
This mural’s journey has been nearly two years in the making, beginning with the South Huron Mural Project’s green light in July 2022. The Huron County Economic Development committee collaborated with six other communities to secure grant funding for the murals, aiming to promote tourism, economic development, and support for jobs in the creative arts.
After extensive public consultation and several setbacks, including the need to change locations from the library to the BMO building, and navigating challenges such as changes in artists and timeline extensions, the mural has finally been installed.
The mural beautifully captures the abundant natural amenities found in South Huron. It features depictions of the Ausable River, native plant species like Trillium and Coneflower, agricultural landscapes, and the South Huron Trail. These elements highlight the community’s enjoyment of nature and commitment to environmental stewardship.
The talented artist behind this masterpiece, Stephanie Boutari, has truly brought her vision to life. Her skill and creativity have transformed this space into a work of art that will inspire and uplift everyone who sees it.
