The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued just over 1,000 tickets during a week-long Canada Day traffic safety initiative.
The Middlesex County OPP participated in the annual Canada Day Weeklong traffic safety initiative from June 21, 2024, to July 1, 2024. The campaign aims to reduce collisions by targeting impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and seatbelt use.
They issued multiple charges under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act, including:
320 Speeding
30 Seatbelt
6 Distracted Driving
22 Stunt/Racing
530 other traffic-related charges
11 Impaired Driving
55 Motor Vehicle Collisions
Many drivers were stopped, educated, and warned about various driving offenses and infractions.
