A driver was charged with refusal after a member of the public reported a possible impaired driver on Richmond Street.
On June 29, Middlesex OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre about a suspected impaired driver.
Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. It was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol earlier. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, but the driver refused to comply. The driver was arrested and taken to the Middlesex OPP detachment.
As a result a 44-year-old from Lucan Biddulph, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act.
Charges include:
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
Dangerous operation of a vehicle
Driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 19, 2024, to address the charges.
Middlesex OPP reminds the public to report any suspicious activity or suspected impaired drivers to the Ontario Provincial Police or local law enforcement immediately.
