A rainfall warning has been issued for our area. Heavy rain with torrential downpours is expected, with rainfall totals between 40 to 80 mm and locally higher amounts possible. Torrential downpours could produce rainfall rates of 20 to 40 mm per hour at times.
The rain will start overnight or Wednesday morning and end by Thursday.
The remnants of Hurricane Beryl will bring this heavy rainfall to parts of southern Ontario. While the exact track of the weather system is uncertain, similar systems in the past have produced very high rainfall rates. Rainfall amounts will likely vary across the region, with some areas possibly receiving more than 80 mm. Conditions should improve by Thursday.
For flooding information, check with your local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest updates. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead, and be prepared to stop.
Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
