All members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in the Canada Road Safety Week campaign from June 21, to July 1. Officers focused on the “Big 4” factors causing serious collisions: Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, Aggressive Driving, and Not Wearing a Seatbelt.
During the week, Huron County OPP officers issued 330 traffic-related charges, including:
160 speeding charges
4 stunt driving charges
6 impaired driving charges
7 distracted driving charges
52 seatbelt charges
1 Canada Shipping Act charge
100 other Provincial offence charges
48 RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) programs were set up across Huron County.
During the campaign, the Huron County OPP investigated 23 motor vehicle collisions, with injuries reported at five of the scenes.
