Firefighters dealt with a fire at the Grand Bend legion on Municipal Drive early this morning.
Firefighters responded to the automatic fire alarm that went off at 6:13 a.m. They saw heavy brown smoke coming from the building when they arrived. Help was called from two other Lambton Shores stations and the South Huron fire department.
No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames in the building’s attic. South Huron’s ladder truck was used to ventilate the roof. The size of the multi-level building made the fire challenging but it is believed to be mostly contained in the attic or the upper part of the south end.
No one was inside the legion when the fire started.
