13 years ago today, a tornado cut a path of destruction through the town of Goderich, killing one person and injuring over 30 others.
The F3 tornado, with wind speeds of up to 320 km/h also destroyed 54 buildings, damaged over 250 more and caused 130 Million dollars in damage.
At the time, it was the strongest tornado to hit Ontario in over 20 years.
It’s taken years and millions of dollars, but Goderich has rebuilt itself….and a commemorative plaque sits at the location where the tornado first touched down.
