Another year, and another very successful All Hands on Deck, Back to School Food Drive!
The 90.5 myFM and Inglewood Mechanical “All Hands on Deck Back to School Food Drive” was a tremendous success, wrapping up with an outpouring of community support. The event saw local residents coming together to help those in need as they prepared for the new school year. Drop-off locations were set up at Foodland Exeter, Hansen’s Your Independent Grocer, and Sobeys Grand Bend, where volunteers eagerly collected donations throughout the day.
The food drive aimed to support families facing food insecurity as they geared up for the upcoming school season. The drive accepted a wide range of donations, including non-perishable food items, cash, and gift cards. By the end of the day, the food drive had far exceeded expectations, filling numerous donation bins and raising significant funds to support the South Huron Food Distribution Centre. Donations filled two pick-ups, an RV / Toy Hauler Trailer and a box trailer that was DOUBLE stacked! Plus, over $2200 in cash and gift cards was collected!
The success of the food drive highlights the strength and generosity of the community. It also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to support those who may be struggling, especially during significant times like the start of the school year. The donations collected during the “All Hands on Deck Back to School Food Drive” will go directly to the South Huron Food Distribution Centre, where they will be distributed to local families in need.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers. The overwhelming success of the drive ensures that many children and families will have the resources they need as they begin the new school year. The “All Hands on Deck Back to School Food Drive” has once again proven to be an essential initiative, and the community’s response has been nothing short of inspiring.
