Huron County OPP has charged a 20-year-old man from Central Huron with assault and impaired driving after an incident in Goderich on August 9th.
Around 10:00 p.m. that evening, police received a report of an assault on Suncoast Drive. The victim informed police that the suspect left the scene in a vehicle and provided a description. Officers soon located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Huron Road. After arresting the driver for assault, they discovered that he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside breath test confirmed this, leading to his re-arrest.
The suspect, was then taken to the Huron OPP detachment, where further breath tests showed he was over the legal alcohol limit. He has been charged with assault and impaired driving and also faces a charge under the Liquor Licence Control Act.
His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s license was suspended for 90 days.
