An investigation by several Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) units led to the seizure of illegal drugs, weapons, cash, and stolen property worth over $123,000. The investigation began with officers from the Huron County OPP and took them to an address on Huron-Bruce Road.
On September 10th police arrived at the rural location and saw a vehicle try to escape by driving into a farmer’s field, damaging crops. The vehicle hit a tree stump, causing severe damage. The driver fled but was quickly caught and arrested. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen, and a search of the path driven revealed a 9mm revolver and ammunition. Officers found methamphetamine, $1,300 in cash, a prohibited knife, and a container of explosive rifle mix in the vehicle.
While at the property, police spotted another stolen vehicle and arrested a second person. A search warrant was issued, leading to the seizure of more weapons, stolen goods, and related items.
In total, police seized stolen vehicles, including a trailer, snowmobile, and pickup truck, as well as crossbows, compound bows, and ammunition. The estimated value of the recovered stolen property is $117,000, with drugs valued at $500 and other seized items totaling $4,950. Officers also seized $1,300 in Canadian currency.
Two people have been arrested and charged with various offenses related to firearms, stolen property, and drug possession. One of them, a 40-year-old from South Bruce, faces multiple charges including possession of a stolen firearm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and methamphetamine possession. The second individual, a 45-year-old from South Bruce, is charged with offenses related to stolen property and firearms.
