A controversial Ontario long-term care law is being tested in court starting this week.
The law allows hospitals to put discharged patients into nursing homes they didn’t choose or risk a daily 400-dollar fine.
The Advocacy Centre for the Elderly and the Ontario Health Coalition argue the law, known as Bill 7, is unconstitutional, though the province disagrees.
One core item the court will address is whether the new law has fulfilled its stated purpose of helping with the flow of patients.
