A piece of legislation, named after a teenaged girl who died in 2013, was commemorated by the province on September 25th, the sixth anniversary of Rowan’s Law Day.
After suffering multiple concussions over a six-day period, Rowan Stringer an Ottawa high school rugby player died in 2013. Neil Lumsden, the province’s Minister of Sport noted, because of Rowan’s Law, every athlete is safer because the sporting community better understands the need to protect athletes.
Some of the sports where head injury’s are common are hockey, football, soccer, lacrosse, rugby, boxing, and wrestling.
