If you were banking on that $250 cheque next year from the Liberal government – it’s now in limbo.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced yesterday (Tuesday) that his party will not be supporting it until more people are added to the eligibility list – people who Singh said they were told would be included when the idea was initially brought forward.
Singh said he initially supported the idea because he was told the rebate cheques would go to anyone who earned under $150,000 last year but has since discovered that seniors, students, and people who are on disability benefits were excluded from the list.
Singh said the NDP will support the GST break, but will not support the rebate until more people are added to the eligibility list.
