Today, December 3rd, marks Giving Tuesday, a global movement celebrating generosity. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday focus on shopping, Giving Tuesday encourages people to give back to their communities.
This year, the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation is dedicating its Giving Tuesday campaign to the Parkhill accessible trail project. The initiative, led by the community and Friends of North Middlesex Trails (FNMT) in partnership with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation and the Municipality of North Middlesex, aims to create a six-kilometer accessible trail loop in Parkhill.
The trail will feature a chip-and-dust surface suitable for walkers, strollers, and wheelchairs, along with accessible parking and multiple loop options. The project will allow more people, including those without vehicles, to enjoy outdoor recreation and connect with nature.
The campaign encourages donations to support the trail project. Contributions can be made online through the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation’s Canada Helps page or by visiting designated drop-off locations in Parkhill. Donations made now or on Giving Tuesday will be matched up to $5,000 each by the Municipality of North Middlesex and the Conservation Foundation, doubling the impact of each gift.
The community is also invited to share their support by posting an #UnSelfie on social media, explaining why they back the Parkhill trail project.
