Visit the Huron Historic Gaol and Governor’s House in Goderich on December 7th for a special guided tour. This rare winter event offers a unique look at what life was like behind bars during the holidays between 1841 and 1972.
The tour includes true stories about escape attempts, festive meals in the jail, and the surprising reason it was once called a “winter resort.” Visitors will also get to enjoy hot cider and a holiday treat while exploring this historic site.
The Huron Historic Gaol is normally closed in December, making this a one-of-a-kind opportunity. The tour involves stairs and limited seating, so plan accordingly. Dressing warmly is recommended.
Two tours are available, running from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tickets cost $11 plus HST for adults and $7 plus HST for students, children, and seniors.
