A detailed investigation into online child sexual exploitation has led to charges against a 22-year-old St. Marys resident.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU), supported by OPP Digital Forensics, Perth County OPP, and Stratford Police Service, executed a search warrant at a residence in St. Marys on December 5, 2024. Several electronic devices were seized as part of the operation.
A resident of St. Marys has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses under the Criminal Code, including non-consensual distribution of an intimate image, making child pornography, and making available child pornography.
Authorities stress the importance of protecting children from online exploitation and encourage collaboration between law enforcement, parents, and the community. Education about safe internet use is vital to prevent victimization and keep children safe in both real and virtual spaces.
The OPP continues to pursue individuals who exploit technology for harm. Parents are urged to engage in open discussions with their children about internet safety and to utilize resources like cybertip.ca and protectchildren.ca for guidance.
Anyone with information about online child exploitation is encouraged to contact the police or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
