Police are investigating after a man was defrauded out of over 50-thousand dollars.
Bernie Blockeel contacted myFM to share his story to help protect others.
He says it all started with a phone call from his bank.
He says part of the loss was from credit card fraud, but the bank told him the rest involved Facebook Marketplace.
A bank investigation helped Bernie recoup about 30-thousand dollars. He says the rest was lost when he clicked on a Facebook Marketplace e-transfer LINK sent to him by someone allegedly interested in the fridge he was selling.
Police are still investigating but Bernie’s not holding out much hope he’ll see that money again.
