The Huron Women’s Shelter is honored to be named the Community Partner for the month of April. Genelle Reid, Fund Development and Public Education Coordinator expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of community support for those affected by gender-based violence.
The shelter provides a safe space for individuals in need, offering emergency housing and a 24/7 crisis line. The crisis line is available not only for those experiencing gender-based violence but also for people who may be concerned about someone they know.
Beyond emergency shelter services, the organization offers counseling for both residents and community members, helping those who have experienced gender-based or sexual violence. They also assist with the transition process for individuals leaving abusive situations by providing court support, job search assistance, and connections to social services.
Children’s programming is another key part of their work
For those seeking support or more information, the Huron Women’s Shelter crisis line is available at 1-800-265-5506, and additional resources can be found at www.huronwomenshelter.com.
