As the school year winds down and summer draws near, the Avon Maitland District School Board is reminding families how important it is for students to attend school regularly. To help keep students motivated through the final weeks of the year, the Board has launched a campaign called “I AM Here.”
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the value of daily school attendance and to give students, parents, and school staff the tools they need to support it across Huron and Perth counties. Research shows that missing just two days a month—about ten percent of the school year—can have a serious effect on a student’s academic success.
“I AM Here” carries a special meaning for each group involved. For students, it means showing up every day, ready to learn. For teachers and school staff, it means being a consistent, supportive presence in the classroom. For parents and caregivers, it means being involved and connected to their child’s education. For the wider community, it means offering support to help young people stay in school, whether that’s emotional, physical, social, or financial.
