Construction work is moving forward on Victoria Street in Exeter as crews continue upgrades to important underground infrastructure.
Workers have installed new storm and sanitary connections at the intersection of Main and Victoria Streets, along with placing temporary asphalt to help maintain safe access. Sanitary sewer work also progressed between Main and Andrew Street. Meanwhile, the installation of a temporary watermain has been completed and is now undergoing testing before it’s officially put into service.
Looking ahead, the contractor will continue installing sanitary sewer pipes and connections from Main Street to the pillars just east of Andrew Street. Once the temporary watermain passes final checks, water service will be switched over for affected customers.
During construction, Victoria Street remains closed to through traffic between Main Street and the pillars east of Andrew Street. However, access to facilities east of the closure continues to be available through the South Huron Recreation Centre property.
The Municipality thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation as these important improvements continue.
