The Exeter Legion is starting a new program to help veterans and seniors live more comfortably and independently, called the Veteran Independence Support Programs.
The program is being paid for by the Ontario government through the Seniors Community Grant Program. The Legion applied for the funding earlier this year, and it was approved for the 2024–2025 year.
The classes will focus on three important areas: staying active with physical fitness, learning how to cook for one or two people, and using technology to stay connected and safe. All of the sessions will be led by trained and certified instructors.
While the program is mainly for veterans, all seniors are welcome to take part. The Exeter Legion hopes to start offering the classes in September.
