Ontario Provincial Police in the West Region laid more than 1,400 charges during the Civic Holiday long weekend traffic campaign.
Between August 1st and 4th, officers conducted 1,801 traffic stops targeting speeding, seatbelt violations, distracted driving and impaired driving.
Police also enforced Ontario’s Move Over law, which requires drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles when safe to do so.
The campaign saw 625 speeding charges, 148 seatbelt charges, and 47 impaired driving charges.
