The province is investing $56.8 million to add 2,200 new nursing education seats across colleges and universities.
The funding aims to grow the number of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and practical nurses as part of a plan to protect the health-care system.
Colleges and Universities Minister Nolan Quinn says this is no doubt a needed step.
A further $7.5 million will equip institutions with clinical supplies and lab tools.
Quinn says the government is also expanding access to online training pathways for personal support workers and registered practical nurses.
Officials say the initiative is part of a broader plan to strengthen the province’s health-care workforce and ensure better care access.
