The Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is inviting local youth to take part in an exciting new opportunity — the first-ever Youth Citizen Police Academy.
Running from September 9th to November 4th, the eight-week program will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Norfolk County OPP Detachment.
Constable Andrew Gamble said there is a lot of interest about policing by local youth, and they wanted to let them understand more about the career.
Designed for youth ages 14 to 18, the academy offers an inspiring way to explore policing and community safety.
Students will get to learn about all areas of policing while there, showing the many career paths available.
Gamble adds it’s a great item to add on a resume as well.
He looks at this youth academy as just another step forward in the detachments ongoing efforts to connect with younger members of our community.
Applications are available at the Norfolk County OPP Detachment or by emailing PC Maisonneuve at 16607@opp.ca.
The deadline is Friday, August 29th.
Space is limited, so early applications are encouraged.
