Two men have been charged after a break and enter at a retail business in South Huron.
Just before 3 a.m. on Friday, September 26th, Huron County OPP were called to Main Street South in Exeter after reports of suspicious activity inside a locked compound. When officers arrived, they found a rental truck that had been backed into the property. Police said the truck had been stolen from London. Inside, officers discovered a rifle and a replica handgun.
As police arrived, one suspect ran away on foot. Specialized units, including the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Tactics and Rescue Unit, and the K-9 team, were brought in to help. The K-9 track led officers to two suspects nearby. One of them was carrying a replica handgun.
Police arrested a 21-year-old of Acton and a 59-year-old of London. Both face several charges, including break and enter, possession of break-in tools, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and firearm-related offences.
Both suspects were held for bail hearings and remain in custody. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
