Huron County Ontario Provincial Police are asking the public to be cautious as they search for an aggressive dog in the village of Hensall.
Just after lunchtime on October 16th, police were called to a home in the Municipality of Bluewater for a report of an aggressive dog. When officers arrived, they found that a person had been bitten. The individual was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police say the dog acted aggressively toward officers before running south through Hensall. It entered the Blue Water Coast Elementary School property, passed through the playground, and continued into a farm field and nearby woodlot. The school was asked to keep children indoors as a precaution.
The dog is described as a large, mostly white Staffordshire Terrier or Pit Bull mix with some black markings. It weighs about 120 pounds and was aggressive earlier in the day.
Police are asking residents to stay alert and not approach or try to capture the dog if they see it. Anyone who spots the dog should call police right away.
OPP Constable Craig Soldan told myFM the details.
