The Municipality of Bluewater Council met on October 20th, to discuss several local updates and community projects.
During the meeting, Council appointed Chandra Alexander as the Acting Chief Administrative Officer for the Municipality.
Council also approved the installation of new stop signs at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Queen Street West in Hensall, creating a three-way stop to improve safety.
The Bluewater Winter Operations Plan for the upcoming 2025-2026 season was approved as well.
Council decided to reallocate funds from a planned vehicle replacement toward the purchase of a covered trailer worth about $70,000 to support sidewalk plow operations. Funding for a new vehicle to tow the plow will be considered in the 2026 budget.
Other decisions included adding “No Dogs Allowed” signs at cemeteries and removing any dog waste bag stations currently located there.
Staff were also directed to apply for a Community Emergency Preparedness Grant to purchase two road closure trailers and traffic cones.
Council supported submitting a project proposal for an Environmental Action Plan to Western University’s Masters of Environment and Sustainability program and agreed to apply for an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant to help expand youth programs, such as summer camps and drop-in sessions.
