The students of the South Huron District High School Interact Club are stepping up to make a difference in the community with their Community Badminton Tournament. The event will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the school’s large gym, and it promises to be a morning full of fun, fitness, and community spirit.
Co-president of the club, Mercedes Prout told myFM about the event.
This tournament is open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned badminton player, eager to try the sport for the first time, or simply looking to watch and cheer on your neighbours and friends. The event is designed to bring the community together while supporting an important cause.
Participants can register for $5 per person at the door, and it’s free for spectators. Equipment, including rackets and birdies, will be provided, though attendees are welcome to bring their own. For those who get a little hungry or thirsty, there will be snacks, baked goods, and drinks available for purchase throughout the event.
For people not familiar with the club, Prout explained what they do.
Adding to the excitement, the tournament will feature a raffle with fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses. One of the standout prizes includes a $1,500 electric washer and dryer set. Other prizes will showcase the incredible support of local businesses and the generosity of the South Huron community.
The tournament is more than just a fun way to spend a morning—it’s a chance to give back. All proceeds from the event will support Jessica’s House, a local hospice providing compassionate care and grief support for both adults and children.
Whether you’re looking to get active, support a local charity, or enjoy a morning of community fun, the Community Badminton Tournament is not to be missed. To register or get more information, email mercedesprout@gmail.com.
