The holiday season is about to begin in Goderich with the return of the Festival of Lights and Santa Claus Parade.
On Saturday, November 22nd, celebrations will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Square Performance Stage with an outdoor concert by John and Melina Powers. The Goderich Salvation Army will be serving free hot chocolate, provided by Tim Hortons of Goderich.
At 7:00 p.m., Mayor Trevor Bazinet and members of Town Council will lead the official lighting ceremony to turn on the Festival of Lights. The display will brighten Courthouse Square and mark the start of the Christmas season in Goderich.
After the lights are switched on, the Santa Claus Parade will begin at the corner of West Street and Wellington. Floats decorated with twinkling lights will travel along West Street to Courthouse Square, circle it clockwise, and continue down South Street to Elgin Avenue, where the parade will finish.
Community members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate. Several parade floats will collect food for local food banks to help families in need this holiday season. Check back this week for our interview with Tourism and Community Development Manager, Jenna Ujiye.
