The holiday spirit is set to shine bright in Seaforth as the community gears up for its 38th annual Illuminated Santa Claus Parade. The event will take place on Friday, November 28th at 7 p.m., bringing festive cheer, colourful lights, and plenty of excitement to Main Street.
Parade Chair and Seaforth Lions Club Secretary Cathy Elliott says the nighttime parade has become a beloved local tradition.
The parade starts at the community centre, travels along Duke Street, and heads south on Main Street. When Santa arrives at the end of the parade, he’ll head into the Legion to meet with children, hear their Christmas wishes, and hand out treats.
Elliott told myFM about this years theme.
Elliott says anyone interested in joining the parade can easily take part.
Participants are allowed to hand out candy by walking alongside their floats, but Elliott reminds everyone that “there’s only one real Santa,”
Longtime favourites like the Seaforth Golf Course will once again collect non-perishable food donations for the local food bank along the route. The municipality of Huron East also helps support the event each year, contributing $1,000 toward parade expenses.
Elliott says the Lions Club works hard to make sure the parade continues, no matter the challenges.
With glowing lights, festive floats, and the magic of Santa’s arrival, Seaforth’s Illuminated Santa Claus Parade promises to be a joyful night that brings the community together and starts the Christmas season in style.
