The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board has confirmed its leadership for the 2025-26 school year. During the Board’s Annual Meeting on Monday, November 17th, Mary Helen Van Loon was re-elected as Chair of the Board.
Ms. Van Loon has served as a trustee since 2017 and is now beginning her sixth term as Chair. She represents Perth South, St. Marys, and West Perth, and works with Holy Name of Mary in St. Marys and St. Patrick’s in Dublin.
In her remarks, Ms. Van Loon thanked her fellow trustees for their support. She said she looks forward to continuing the Board’s work, noting progress in math and literacy, and ongoing faith-based learning opportunities for staff and students. She described this time as one of growth, where “seeds are being planted, nurtured and starting to grow.”
The Board also announced that Amy Cronin has been elected as Vice-Chair. Ms. Cronin has been a trustee since 2010 and represents Huron East, Perth East, and North Perth. She supports several schools, including St. James in Seaforth, St. Patrick’s in Kinkora, St. Columban, and St. Mary’s in Listowel.
Ms. Cronin has previously served as Chair of the Board, and this will be her fifth term as Vice-Chair. She said it is an honour to work in Catholic education and to serve alongside trustees who bring many strengths to the table.
